Direct paths without smb protocol ?

I have Nvidia Shield. Plex server with drives is on my windows PC.
I use direct paths with SMB protocol and is working ok.

Is it possible to use direct paths without SMB. Kodi can see all my drives like storage, because they are mounted on Shiel.
So I would like to play movie directly like example: \MYCOMPUTERNAME\Movies F and not smb:\MYCOMPUTERNAME\Movies F

That \\mycomputername-notation is actually the smb protocol in the background! 😆 You could use others like e.g. nfs or ftp. But you need to specify the protocol like smb://

So if I have mounted on Shield (in android) my drives and Kodi sees them as his own drives, like /STORAGE/MYCOMPUTERNAME/F/Movies and I play them trough kodi’s file manager is this smb protocol too ?

If you configured your system like that, then simply use e.g. /STORAGE/MYCOMPUTERNAME/F/Movies as the "Replace with" part for your Direct Path-configuration in the PKC settings. How did you end up mounting direct paths.
I am exactly in the same situation as you, but I have drives from my NAS mounted on the shield.
I have multiple folders on different volumes (drives effectively), so not sure what to substitute.
