How to Create a Basic Portfolio Website #13
Comments
@patrickm02L Are you looking for something that you actually create for the learning experience? or are you okay with something that is ready out of the box? If you're looking for something that's just ready to go, I'd recommend Squarespace. I have set it up for a few non-techie people and it just works. You can also get into some code customizations if you want via JavaScript and CSS tweaks. |
@benhager I was thinking of a project for folks who wanted to learn basic code. A portfolio seemed like a good way to approach that and would also be useful for folks should they want to use it. Squarespace, tumblr, wordpress are all great, just looking for something to teach newbies that has a basis in github. ex: http://cathydeng.github.io/ |
I could probably put together something that covers pulling some stats from Github and Dribbble with work examples in it. I'm all about the notion of getting folks to write some code—even though Squarespace and others are good solutions that don't require much (if any) coding. |
@nickmjones that would be super! I would love to help. Wanna work something out in person/slack? |
@patrickm02L that sounds like a good idea... just wasn't sure what you were looking for :-) I bet this would be an interesting topic for people, building a simple portfolio website is a good on-boarding project for programming. |
How does someone with little or no coding experience create a basic HTML/CSS site that can act as their portfolio?
