📃 Iteration 31 roadmap 📃

This post outlines our targets for the upcoming iteration. The goal is to provide a summary of where we are going.

New features / enhancements

• Table selection – stage II - we improved arrow and tab key handling, added UI option to select entire row/column, improved merge/split commands, fixed some crashes happening during the undo
• Support for plural forms in translations
• Handling variations of font-family notations and partial matches.
• Improved font retention when pasting from Word
• Improved Ctrl/Cmd+A handling when a widget is at the beginning or end of the content
• Migrating CKEditor 5 codebase to monorepo

Performance

• Improved initial table insert dropdown render time
• Toolbar grouping should recalculate the styles less frequently
• Various improvements in frequently used API that contributes to overall performance gain (Review most used code in terms of performance #6528, Reduce Position#parent use by 50%+ #6579, Optimize model TreeWalker #6582, Remove model / view check from is() checks. #6529)

Bug fixes

• Support special characters in mention matching
• Confusing characters after transform emoji using text-transformation

Finally, there are more minor issues planned for the 31st iteration. See the list of issues assigned to the current iteration for more details.

Dates

The code freeze is planned on April the 22nd, followed by releasing npm packages and social followup on April the 29th.

Please keep in mind that these plans are subject to change and even though we put all our energy to deliver all the items mentioned above, the iteration plan may change at any point.
