I've enabled the "both" and 5ghz only setting in the app. When I start monitoring I get no 5ghz packets and the app thinks airodump isn't running. However if I turn on wifi and try to connect to a 5ghz ap I start receiving 5ghz packets until I switch wifi off.
Running an LG phone on nougat and have installed patched FW.

This could be caused by the firmware and how you set it up and switch it to monitor mode. The "Copy sample command" option in the app's settings will copy an airodump-ng command to your clipboard. Running it in a root shell might give you some insight as to why airodump fails to start.
Note: Please read the discontinuation notice in the README. The new version uses a very different way of capturing packets, it's not even using airodump anymore, and has a much better way of handling channel switching. This to say that, if your problem requires a code fix, the fix would not be ported to the new version, so I will not be making any changes. However, you are free to make any code fixes you wish.
