Following Feed Showing Replies to Strangers

Ever since the removal of reply controls. Replies to strangers are showing up in the following feed. We were promised this would not happen when those controls were removed. However, it's happening when user A that you follow posts an original post, then user B that you do not follow replies to that post, and then user A replies to that reply.

Expectation is not to see that reply to user B unless I am following both users.

I really need this fixed. Seeing all these garbage replies taking up space on my feed is getting really annoying to the point of considering going back to Twitter which I've all but abandoned until now.
