I'm unhappy with some of this project structurally.

The changes in #1 are a start towards re-organising and reducing globals and clutter in main.lua

However, I'd like to look into more ways to tidy up the game's structure generally.

Ideally not having all the states global would be nice, i think?

Making some more functionally aligned classes could be sensible

Is map.lua too massive? Could it be broken down?
