Reset your terminus password (error 502) #568
Comments
Can you access "desktop.[your terminusName].myterminus.com" in the browser? If you can, please wait a little longer; it might be a DNS resolution issue. |
@Sperum Can you execute the command |
Below is the result of the cmd. Ive also attached the error im seeing on the console. I guess the Wizard is doing some API call to cloudlfare to create the DNS entry but it doesnt work.
|
@Sperum Do you have any firewall on the machine? According to the logs, it looks like the cloudflare tunnel cannot access the 443 port on the node, our L4 proxy will be listening on this node port. |

|

|
Hi, can you check the existence of the |
I've got a similar issue, but after successfully logging into Olares Desktop website after enabling the Option to restrict access to headscale vpn. |
Hi @s3tupw1zard , is the issue in your case exactly the same as the OP (as in the "error 502") or it's that the whole system cannot be reached as a whole? can you paste some screenshots to help us better locate the specific failure points? |
I tried to install Olares again, this time with an ID on my own domain, and selected No reverse proxy. Then I got the error 502 and am now reinstalling Olares. Sadly I didn't create screenshots. Before uninstalling Olares the whole system could no be reached whether via IP or via the sub domain. Or rather, it showed me an SSL error via IP, which is understandable because the certificate is not valid for the IP. And in the LarePass app on my Smartphone I'm now stuck at resetting my Olares Password (on the ID I wanted to sign in with) with "Request failed with status code 523". I couldn't find a way to get out of this screen and unfortunately didn't backup my mnemonic phrase. |
We recently updated the setup process and removed this step in question. For devices with a public IP, like cloud servers, the default is to not use a reverse proxy. For other cases, the option defaults to use a reverse proxy. Also users are able to toggle this in the Settings. This adjustment should help reduce confusion.
We are aware of this issue. We assumed that users might face temporary connectivity issues during password resets, so we decided not to provide the option to delete the account, because doing so could result in users being unable to log in once Olares is activated. However, we recognize that this assumption can create issues like the one you’re facing. To address this, we are planning the following improvements in upcoming updates:
These should help resolve the issues you’ve encountered. Thanks for your feedback and especially thanks for your patience as we work on these updates @s3tupw1zard |
