There were a number of complaints for paste operations in VS Code. I found that they disappeared when I disabled all extensions and resurfaced when I enabled spellright only (because I needed it).
It seems that spellright v3.0.122 interferes with VS code in a way, which delays paste occasionally and then substantially (> 5 seconds).
