Monospace Font #47
Comments
Alright, so I had a look and to be honest I really don't like JBM. I spent some time trying all mono fonts that I have and a short list of what I'd be OK with is:
The primary criteria is that it should be relatively narrow. The second is that it should look good... subjectively, as defined by me and on my machine :) Other options that are comparable:
If I will have some time, I will make a temp build of NB with all these built-in, so that we can do a little poll and what's where. |
Good idea, such a poll sounds fun 😄 |
It's obviously a subjective matter. My choice of JetBrains Mono was a combination of what I feel looks good while also having a permissive enough license to allow it to be bundled with the app, like the rest of the fonts. My main gripe with fonts that are too narrow is that they are really hard to read (for me) at small sizes, and increasing the font size takes away from the compactness of the font. One site I've used in the past to help me choose monospaced fonts is https://www.codingfont.com/, though their list of fonts is obviously far from complete. |
Another open source monospace: https://github.com/larsenwork/monoid The tightened tracking (can play with it on https://github.com/larsenwork/monoid) may suit you. |
A monospace font would be very nice to allow for alignment of stuff.
