Pineapple Ham

Description

Ham steaks cooked in a sweet and sour sauce with pineapple tidbits.

Notes

  • Do not turn stove up too high or the sauce will pop all over the place.

Ingredients

Ingredients US Metric
Ham Steaks 4-6 steaks 4-6 steaks
Pineapple Juice 2 cans 2 cans
Pineapple Tidbits 2 cans 2 cans
Maple Syrup ⅓ cup 80 ml
Yellow Mustard ⅓ cup 80 ml
Lemon Juice 1 tbsp 15 ml
Ground Nutmeg 1 tsp 5 ml

Preparation

  1. Pre-heat a large frying pan over low heat.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk the juice from two cans of pineapple tidbits, yellow mustard, maple syrup, lemon juice, and nutmeg together.
  3. Spread ham steaks out in frying pan.
  4. Whisk liquid mixture once more before pouring into pan.
  5. Flip ham regularly so that they get coated on both sides and heated evenly.
  6. Cook until sauce starts to thicken.
  7. When sauce is thick and sticky, add in 1 can of pineapple tidbits.
  8. Keep cooking for another 5-10 minutes until sauce thickens again.
  9. Take ham steaks out.
  10. Keep cooking pineapple and sauce until pineapple is warm and golden and sauce is thick.
  11. Pour sauce and pineapple over ham steaks and serve.
