Italian Meatloaf

Description

An Italian twist on the traditional meatloaf based on this Italian Meatloaf recipe.

Notes

  • Marinara sauce can be used to top the meatloaf if desired

Ingredients

Ingredients US Metric
Olive Oil 2 tbsp 15 ml
Red Bell Pepper, Diced 1 pepper 1 pepper
Onion, Diced 1 medium onion 1 medium onion
Garlic, Chopped 2 tsp (about 3 cloves) 10 ml
Ground Beef 1 lb 454 g
Eggs 2 large 2 large
Bread Crumbs ¾ cup 180 ml
Grated Parmesan 1 cup 240 ml
Worcestershire 1 tbsp 15 ml
Balsamic Vinegar 1 tbsp 15 ml
Basil 2 tbsp 30 ml
Parsley 1 tbsp 15 ml
Salt 1 tsp 5 ml
Black Pepper ½ tsp 2.5 ml

Preparation

  1. Use the olive oil to saute the bell pepper, onion, and garlic just until soft.
  2. Combine the sauteed bell pepper, onions, and garlic with the rest of the ingredients.
  3. Pack into an oiled loaf pan or form into a loaf shape on an oiled tray or dish.
  4. Bake at 350 °F for about 50 to 60 minutes or until a probe thermometer registers 160 °F in the middle.
  5. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Slice and serve.
