"TypeError: NativeModule.getConstants is not a function" with react-native-paper

I'm getting a similar issue with 'react-native-paper'. After adding the setup file and running the test, I get the error:

TypeError: NativeModule.getConstants is not a function

    > 1 | import { Text as PaperText } from 'react-native-paper';

It looks like the offending code is:

if (!global.__turboModuleProxy) {
  global.__turboModuleProxy = name => {
    return {};
  };
}

But I don't understand what all of this is or does.
