Michael created the issue:

I know you don't like it, but...

It would be nice to have a setting for the dir list cache.

Do not cache any subnails
Cache subnails for files > 50 KB (or bigger then 100x100 pxl res) only
Compression algorithm selection
(eg. a lighter faster compressor apart from current bzip)
or ideally something like XPK, with choose anything you like
