Hardware

Fun designs demonstrating cool aspects of trapped ion quantum computing.

Spinning saddle trapped a ping pong ball

This physics demo shows how an individual atom can be "trapped" for experimental study using an Paul trap. State-of-the-art Paul traps are used for trapped-ion quantum computers and mass spectroscopy. This demo is intended to be as inexpensive as possible (including some 3D printed parts).

Instructions

Read the build instructions for how to assemble the pieces together including some pictures and videos of it working.

Experiments

Read the experiments section for ideas to get you thinking and learning.

Hold a quantum bit---a qubit---in your hands and recreate modern experiments with this fully 3D printable Bloch sphere and qubit state vector.

Instructions

Read the build instructions for stl files and assembly.
