Hi , we are planning to upgrade Maven to the most recent version in future releases after noticing that it is still at version 3.8.8 in the most recent Ubuntu image.

Please kindly adhere to the temporary guidance provided by Gowri in the reference link below: actions/setup-java#685

note: removing the "feature" label as it is just a version update.

chore(build): downgrade POM Checker plugin to v1.7.0

To maintain compatibility with GitHub Actions that run Maven 3.8.8 by
default, we need to downgrade to a plugin version before 1.8.0.

Is there any update on this? We have found a bug with kotlin and test on version 3.8.8 that is resolved in 3.9.9

The workaround is unreliable, we're having a number of "the network is unreachable" while connecting to https://downloads.apache.org, is it possible to bump the priority of this?
