The .io TLD will probably be disabled in 3-5 years. Webmention.io must therefore move to another TLD.

It's possible, but it's nowhere near certain. .su is precedent for a ccTLD outliving its country, among other non-country two-letter TLDs.

...there are multiple potential outcomes depending on the nature of the change...[one] may involve ensuring there is an operational nexus with Mauritius to meet certain policy requirements. Should .io no longer be retained as a coding...it could trigger a five-year retirement process...
