HTML API Roadmap

See where this work fits in with Dennis' broad list of interesting things in #62437.

ℹ This is a stub issue.

WordPress would benefit from having a purpose-designed XML Processor.

  • Parsing WXR remains difficult in the presence of trivial errors and large documents.
  • Parsing and sanitizing SVGs is an obstacle without a universal spec-compliant parser.
  • HTML is often output in RSS feeds in incompatible ways.
  • HTML and XML parsing rules are often blurred because proper XML tools are missing.
