According to the documentation we should use blocks instead of php meta boxes.

"porting PHP meta boxes to blocks is highly encouraged"

But there is no mention on how to do this.

I'm aware that you're able to save information from blocks to post_meta, as mentioned in this issue #7696. It would be great to see an example in the documentation on how to replace a simple meta box with a text field using gutenberg.
