Hi there, I’m using Proton Experimental, and I’ve noticed an issue when trying to run SimPE, which is used by the Sims 2 Community to make edits or view their save’s internal data through the package files in case of corrupted files or making sure their save data works properly. Unfortunately, this error occurs:
[00000128:] EXCEPTION handling: System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type '.' from assembly ''.
[00000128:] EXCEPTION handling: System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
You may see an error regarding a missing DLL from a non-existing folder; “en”, but this doesn’t seem to fix this issue, and the error still occurs with or without the missing folder restored, it also seems the en folder isn’t used at all as the en-US folder presumably gets used instead.
Other unofficial tools like HoodChecker which also use SimPE DLLs work just fine and have no issues whatsoever, even the applications that SimPE ships with all appear to work just fine, only SimPE itself cannot be run.
With this error as it is on Linux and Proton, this makes it impossible to fix errors within a neighbourhood, get rid of unwanted sims who are causing issues, etc., without having to transfer the save onto Windows, using SimPE there, and then transferring back.
Here is also a screenshot of this error in realtime.
