Alexa skills for lambda package

Hi,I created a lambda function which has sample utterances and slots declared in the index.handler file and deployed into aws lambda.So do i need to create a skill in developers console and give the interaction model??What is the procedure i should follow?I'm following this blog https://github.com/michaeljhopkins/pandorabots-alexa-skill .Please help
