As an operator, I want to know which OpenStack services are required to be scs-compatible, which services are recommend and supported/standardized by scs and which services the scs deem to be optional. So that I can build an scs-compatible cloud easier as the step of choosing OpenStack services is already mostly done and I do not have to go through all standards to create that list on my own.
As a user, I want to know, which services are always present in scs-compatible clouds, which are most likely there and do work the same over all clouds and for which services there may be differences between different CSPs. So as a user I know what difficulties might occur when migrating from one CSP to another.
Definition of Done:
either a standard or another kind of documentation is created
implications of enabling or disabling services are clearly described.
short Proposal:
Required
Keystone
Neutron
Nova
Placement
Cinder
Glance
Horizon (What about Skyline? )
Recommended
Barbican (will eventually be required)
Optional
any other undecideded OpenStack Project
To be sorted
Swift (maybe only optional as rbd yould be used as a replacement)
Octavia
Heat (currently requires old version of policies, questionable, whether it will conform to new policies eventually)
CloudKitty
Designate
Required/Recommended backend services
Do we also want to require or recommend services for the infrastructure like DB, chache, RPC?

I added a proposal in the Task description, so anyone can edit it. This list is important for other standards and to focus work on supported services by scs.
@garloff@fkr I would like your feedback and feedback of CSPs to edit and eventually have a final list of services.
As far as I recall, we talked about this during the 3rd community hackathon in November, and we decided that such a thing was hard to accomplish and the effort better spent otherwise.
