According to the ENVIRON wiki, ENVIRON can be used like
ENVIRON
ENVIRON "myParamter=myValue"
or
ENVIRON "myParamter myValue"
However, on Linux (and possibly macOS) only the space version works. Nothing is set when using the equals sign version of the syntax.
