Welcome to the latest edition of NEAR Dev NEWS!

It's edition #23 and we've got your developer updates. Updates include the announcement of the [REDACTED] hackathon, a new near-cli-rs release, near-api-js call for feedback and more. To get NEAR Dev News first each week SUBSCRIBE to our mailing list. Let's dive in!

News

  1. Announcement of the [REDACTED] Hackathon Registration for the [REDACTED] hackathon, with over $500k+ in bounties and prizes, is open! The hackathon will kick off on September 5th and continue for 8 weeks until the IRL event in Bangkok, November 9-11 👉 LINK

  2. New near-cli-rs release A new release for near-cli-rs adds backwards compatibility to run near-cli-js commands in near-cli-rs and a new TEACH-ME mode. Check out all the updates in the release notes 👉 LINK

  3. New MPC release Just a week after the previous, release 1.0.0-rc.2 of MPC is out. Check out all the fixes and improvements 👉 LINK

  4. near-api-js Call for Feedback The Public Goods team at Pagoda put out a statement explaining their plans for improving TypeScript/JavaScript packages that interact with NEAR. They are also asking for feedback on the current state of near-api-js. Check out the plans and give your valued feedback 👉 LINK

  5. Omni Transaction Rust Library The Black Dragon is still at it. Illia has created a new library - to be used in Rust smart contracts - to build transactions for different chains to be signed by the MPC service. You can also earn Race of Sloths Points by contributing to it 👉 LINK

  6. Converting Ponky2 proof to Groth16 and verifying on NEAR Community member Artur shared a POC he was working on to create a plonky proof, verifying the proof in a Groth16 circuit to generate a Groth16 proof and then verifying the Groth16 proof in a NEAR smart contract. If you're building or looking to build with ZK on NEAR this may be useful 👉 LINK

  7. Chain Abstraction Community Call Announcement The third Chain Abstraction Community Call will be taking place next Friday at 3 PM UTC. The initial agenda includes an Introduction to Defuse: integrating CEX and DEX for a unified DeFi future and using chain signatures to control NEAR accounts. Add to your calendar 👉 LINK

  8. Lava Network is Live Lava Network, which offers a decentralized market for infrastructure providers (RPC), has launched live to mainnet. Lava is providing a decentralized RPC service on NEAR 👉 LINK

  9. Race of Sloths New Projects + Monthly Recap Burrow Finance has been added to the race unlocking more ways to earn Sloth Points! After the first month of being live, Race of Sloths had its first recap; over 3,000 points were earned in total 👉 LINK

  10. Calimero's Blockchain Demystification Calimero, a privacy layer that uses NEAR, has started a Twitter series explaining terms common to blockchain and Calimero 👉 LINK

  11. DevHub Livestreams This week Elliot from BuildDAO joined DevHub Live to talk about JavaScript, WebEngines, Decentralized Frontends, and more. Also, Wake Up and Ship More had an episode diving into creating flow charts and their use when building MVPs and production apps and another episode where AI questions Joe.

In case you missed it

  • New Chain Signatures Interface There is a new interface for producing chain signatures. Note that the key derivation function has also switched from sha2 to sha3. Check out this working example for Ethereum. Currently, to get signatures you should use v1.signer-dev.testnet. Once stable this will be deployed to v2.multichain-mpc.testnet. v5.multichain-mpc-dev.testnet will host the most recent commits (not stable).

  • New Wallet Selector Release: The NEAR Wallet Selector has just had a new release that includes support for Ethereum wallets. Check out all the updates in the release notes 👉 LINK

  • Decentralized Indexer Network: NEAT has partnered with The Graph to build a Decentralized Indexer Network for AI on NEAR 👉 LINK

  • Yield / Resume examples: Guillermo has created a repo containing two examples that show how to use the new yield/resume functionality. 👉 LINK
