When creating/editing any footprint or category it is possible to set EDA information like kicad footprint or kicad symbol.
I expect that this values must be inherited as default values to all components created in corresponding category or uses corresponding footprint, but this does not happen.
The components left with empty 'kicad symbol' and 'kicad footprint' fields when editing.
I think the solution might be showing inherited values by gray color or adding two checkboxes like 'Inherit from category' and 'Inherit from footprint' near the 'kicad symbol' and 'kicad footprint' fields respectively. This checkboxes must be selected by default.

I think this is more an enhancement, than a bug, as it is more a convenience feature.
The inheritance works as designed (the value is always inherited, when the part field is empty), but the inheritance could be more easily visible when editing a part.
