Can you use flatten-tool to operate on Python dicts instead of reading in a JSON file? #375

I had a look through the docs but couldn't seen anything about using flatten-tool in this way. But, I know that it can be used as a library, because we do that in CoVE.

@drkane asked me, and I said I'd look into it!

It can be used a library, but I'm not sure we've actually got docs of that!

What I'd consider the public API (what CoVE uses, and which is basically the same as the CLI) doesn't support this, but the underlying code does, so it would be easy to add.
