Describe the bug

After changing my channel to unstable and updating (and making no other changes), the text in many apps not longer renders properly. While looking for a solution almost every bug report I came across either blamed the issue on a new high dpi setting (which has since been reverted and removed) and issues with Chromium. I have tried implementing all suggested fixes I found with no change. Furthermore most of my apps are installed as Flatpaks and using Flatpak was supposedly one of the solutions. The font also affects Gimp (a Flatpak) which I'm confident is not Chromium (or Electron?) based, so the issue seems unrelated to those threads.

Steps To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:
update to unstable.

Expected behavior

I expect the text to render properly and be readable.
