Thankyou for such a good application!
We (4 students with me) looked at the functionality of the app and we looked at what can be improved:

  1. We noticed that the app translates too literally for example with surnames. It literally translates the meaning of your surname.
  2. We also tried to translate a document with several logos in it. When you insert such a document into the app, and you want to insert another document it would not delete the logos. The same goes for tables. If you want to translate this, and delete the table again you have to do this step by step. You cannot delete it all at once.
  3. We also conducted research among our peers, and most of them said that the layout of the app can be more appealing. If this would be the case, they would definitely use the app!

We hope that these sidenotes can be helpful in further improving the app.
Kind regards!

Thank you, @sdc1998 for your and you fellow students' comments.

  1. This is the behavior of the underlying translation system. I assume you are translating from Chinese, where names are commonly also words of the everyday language. For common name/surnames combination the translation system has learnt the proper translation, but for others it struggles. Will get better over time.
  2. I do not understand what you mean. Document Translator's intent is to faithfully reproduce the original document in the translation. Are you saying this is not happening in your test case?
  3. I agree. Any suggestion? The app tried to adapt the modern look that came with Windows Phone and Windows 8. Maybe it is time to go back to classic Windows look.

  1. Good to know! We however translated a Turkish resume to German, in this case the app translated the name from ''Celik'' to ''Stahl''.
  2. We also translated a document that contained tables. We could however not delete these tables afterwards from the app.
  3. Maybe it is an idea to insert an option where people can choose between different lay-outs, either Windows 8 or the classic Windows look for example.

Thanks for the detail.

  1. In my test, Turkish "Celik" is translated to German "Charles". Can you show me the sentence?
  2. Document Translator provides no methiod to edit the content of the document. You will have to do that in an editor that is capabale of processing the particular document format, for instance Microsoft Word for a .docx file. Somehow that editor didn't allow you to modify the table. Document Translatyor should not have modified your access to that table, so if you can edit in the original, you should be able to modify it in the translation.
  3. Thanks for the feedback. I was personally thinking of going back to the classic Windows/XAML experience.
