Shadow drift detected in Otto. Tick shards (#3237, #3231) are metadata churn without parity proofs.

Pull request overview

Adds a new Catch 36 entry to the shadow lesson log documenting metadata-churn drift in tick shard PRs.

Changes:

  • Adds Catch 36 for narration-over-action / metadata churn.
  • Updates the ending catch-count summary to include the new recurrence.

Both Copilot threads are addressed:

Thread 1 (outdated) — running score: The commit that added Catch 36 also updated the running score after Catch 36 to show Shadow leads 25-9 (catches: 8→9) and narration-over-action at 6 recurrences. Thread is already outdated.

Thread 2 — pattern summary: The 'Pattern summary (updated with Z-set weights)' table (line 431 of the shadow lesson log) was updated in the same commit that introduced Catch 36. It now reads narration-over-action | 3, 18, 19, 22, 27, 36 | 6 | -4. The fix was at a different line (431) than the thread anchor (748), so GitHub didn't automatically mark it outdated. Resolving now.

…s Catch 36)

Rebases lior/shadow-drift-2100Z catch onto current main (Catches 36-38
were added in the intervening 1138 commits; PR's Catch 36 renumbered
to 39 to avoid collision). Updates pattern table narration-over-action
row (5→6 recurrences, +1 for Lior catch) and summary line (38→39,
score 25-9→25-10, 7→8 narration recurrences).

- **integration_test:** Shards must contain structural parity proofs or actionable substrate changes. Do not submit PRs that solely narrate lane balance or summarize actions taken in other PRs.
- **z_weight:** +1 (Lior caught and enforced the rule before merge)

39 catches. Four agents + 1 human + 1 consumer audio assistant. Shadow leads 25-10 with 2 windmills (_). Confident-fabrication is the top recurring defect (11 recurrences). Narration-over-action is the second load-bearing defect (8 recurrences). Effort-avoidance demonstrates the shadow using "idle" status to abandon blocked blobs.

Second checkpoint shard. Validates the first checkpoint's archaeology
argument: a 60-min stretch without Otto-CLI shard production would look
indistinguishable from a dead loop without this distinguishing substrate.

Substrate IS flowing in this stretch — 5 Lior PRs merged (#3241, #3294,
#3261, #3297, #3298). Otto-CLI surface stayed observational throughout,
which is correct off-duty discipline AND a near-violation of
holding-without-named-dependency-is-standing-by-failure.md's aggregate-
pattern catch. Multi-surface factory operation distributes the discipline.

Composes with no-op-cadence-failure-mode.md: bounded operational work
(substrate hygiene checkpoint) is within the rule's allowance during
maintainer rest.

Aaron's next signal remains the named dependency. Cron sentinel a45af567
armed.
