• I have tested the latest development version and the problem persists

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

When I try building jabref from a26d7c6 I get this error.

You should use the former.

I'm updating the jabref package in nixpkgs. The repo is cloned with submodules. It's build with gradle directly. What's the difference between ./gradlew from direct gradle call?

However, I might update it today. I will come back here.

I encountered more problems when I try to build the latest master. It seems the gradle hooks in nixpkgs doesn't support subproject correctly. So I can't test the PR...

I try to workaround the gradle hook problem but I get another error:
