Hi,
I read through closed #25 that covered this somewhat. But I still think it would be very good, if possible, to offer zoom and pan via cropping when the hardware does not offer it.
I'd imagine that the controls are not greyed; crop/zoom is checked if h/w supported, if not h/w then alert the user ask if they want a reduced quality option for crop and then pan about.
Finally the image colour adjusts, brightness etc operate on the resulting image slice. This allows light sources to be excluded giving better use of dynamic range etc.
I think many people would sacrifice a little quality to control pan/zoom options - if we want better then wee can buy a better webcam!
