Due to privacy restrictions, including GDPR, institutions are not able to rely on US based regions. Consequently being able to directly select an SES region or inherit the one used for servers.

After manual modification of the CloudFormation template to switch all services to EU, the stack does start, the web server is available and prompt for login but then no email can be received, despite verified emails and domains according to AWS SES.

PS: switching to SendGrid, as an alternative, is not possible as https://hubs.mozilla.com/docs/hubs-cloud-aws-troubleshooting.html#after-successful-deployment required a first successful login.
