I have two languages active in HeliBoard: Italian and English. Anyway, I always want to have Italian as my actual keyboard language, while English works well enough as secondary for multi-language input.

I'm experiencing an issue where Heliboard's input language switches randomly from Italian to English. This occurs approximately once or twice daily. Looks like it only goes in that direction: once changed to English, it does not go back randomly to Italian.

Steps to Reproduce:

Set up: Configure Heliboard with two languages, each with multi-language with a secondary input. Mine are Italian with English as the secondary multi-lang input, and English with Italian as a secondary multi-lang input.
Use: Begin typing in the first language.
Observe: Notice that the input language might unexpectedly switch to the second language.
Expected Behavior: The set input language should remain consistent with the initial setting, unless explicitly changed by the user.

Android 13 / ColorOS
HeliBoard 2.2

HeliBoard may switch keyboard language when the input field explicitly states a language via hintLocales.

Does the switch happen in an app that explicitly requires English input?
Though it should not switch in your case, as you already have English as secondary language.

Oh sorry, I had completely forgot about this. Anyway, the culprit is Duolingo, where the Japanese course is in English and switches to ENG every time you type a translation. I solved the issue by using only my mother tongue (Italian) with English as secondary input.
