Contracts received from Lexifi with the Generic Pricing engine:
---------------------------------------------------------------
These contract descriptions have been compiled from information picked
up from code (payoff function) and from some information in files
received from Lexifi, together with what we wrote in the FHPC'12 paper
(assume the latter was based on face2face infos during meetings with
Lexifi)
-----------------------------------------------------------
1. simple European option
Directory: <Lexifi-BrownianBridge>/OrigC/examples/
Today: 2011-12-09
Underlyings: "DJ_Eurostoxx_50", spot 3758.05
Payoff: max ( 0.0 , underlyings[0][0]-4000.0) * deterministic_values (?)
==> payoff graph /
_________/
4000
European call option on DJ_Eurostoxx_50, strike 4000 (settled)
Dates involved (from comment in Lexifi code)
2012-11-30
------------------------------------------------------------
2. "worst-off" contract (5 dates, 3 underlyings)
Directory: <Lexifi-BrownianBridge>/OrigC/worst_off_contract/
Today: 2012-01-27
Underlyings: "DJ_Eurostoxx_50", spot 3758.05
"Nikkei_225", spot 11840.0
"SP_500", spot 1200.0
Payoff:
Haskell code: (xss matrix of prices for 3 underlyings (cols) at 5 dates (rows)
(from <Lexifi-BrownianBridge>/Haskell/PricingExample2.hs)
payoff_2 Pricing_Data{..} xss
= let mins = V.map (\xs -> V.minimum (V.zipWith (/) xs md_starts)) xss
mins' = V.toList mins ++ [mins!4,undefined]
discounted_payoffs = zipWith (*) (V.toList model_discounts) premiums
++ map (* model_discounts!4) [1000, 1000 * mins!4]
premiums = [1150.0, 1300.0, 1450.0, 1600.0, 1750]
conds = [(>=1),(>=1),(>=1),(>=1),(>=1),(>0.75),const True]
payoffs = [ pay | (cond,m,pay) <- zip3 conds mins' discounted_payoffs
, cond m ]
in head payoffs -- never empty, last predicate always true
In text:
On each date, check whether all indexes are above their initial value.
(division by md_starts, first five conds). If this is the case, pay a
previously fixed amount, depending on which date it was (premiums),
and end the contract. Otherwise continue with the next date.
If test on all five dates failed (at least one was below start on each
date), test on last date if all indexes are at least 75% of start. In
this case, pay 1000 (end of discounted_payoffs). Otherwise, pay
(1000*worst percentage).
The case for date 5 is encoded in C in a convoluted manner:
- if date 5 is reached,
a) unconditional cash flow of 1000
b) if all indexes are above start: cash flow of 750, end.
c) or else: if all indexes above 0.75 start: end
d) or else: negative cash flow of (1000 * (1 - ratio))
The Haskell code computes all ratios between current and start price
(mins), adding the special cases at the end, and compares them using
the cond predicates (again special cases at the end, last one always
true). Payoffs are discounted using given discount values.
Dates involved (from comments in Lexifi code):
2013-02-01, 2014-02-03, 2015-02-03, 2016-02-03, 2017-02-03
(I believe these are business days following 201X-01-27, thus we have
a yearly check for five years)
-------------------------------------------------------
3. "Barrier Rev. Convert"
Directory: <Lexifi-BrownianBridge>/OrigC/barrier_rev_convert_contract/
Today: 2012-01-27
Underlyings: "DJ_Eurostoxx_50", spot 3758.05
"Nikkei_225", spot 11840.0
"SP_500", spot 1200.0
Payoff:
Haskell code: (xss matrix of prices for 3 underlyings (cols) at 367 dates (rows)
from finpar/GenericPricing/HaskellLH/GenPricing.hs (DISCLAIMER: not my code)
payoff3 md_disc xss =
-- for any n <- [0..366]
x3309 = any (\ [x,y,z] -> or [ x <= 2630.6349999999998
, y <= 8288.0
, z <= 840.0])
xss
goto_40 = x3309 &&
( (underlyings(366,0) < 3758.05) ||
(underlyings(366,2) < 1200.0 ) ||
(underlyings(366,1) < 11840.0) )
price1 = trajInner 100.0 0 md_disc
price2 = if goto_40
then let m1 = min ((underlyings(366,2) / 1200.0 ) - 1.0)
((underlyings(366,0) / 3758.05) - 1.0)
m2 = min ((underlyings(366,1) / 11840.0) - 1.0) m1
amount = (1000.0 * (1.0 + m2 ) )
in trajInner amount 1 md_disc
else trajInner 1000.0 1 md_disc
in price1 + price2
In words:
Barriers: Each day for one year (366 days in 2012), check whether any
of the underlyings is below 0.7*start (x3309). Additionally check if,
at the end, any of the underlyings is below start (goto_40). If both
conditions are met (barrier breach and lower at end),
Payments:
a) Unconditionally pay 100 (price1). (???)
b) If a barrier was hit during the year, pay 1000 * smallest ratio
where a ratio is computed as price at end (day 366) / price at start
Or else: pay 1000 if no barrier was hit
Nicer code would be:
payoff3 md_disc xss = price1 + price2
where price1 = trajInner 100.0 0 md_disc
price2 = trajInner (1000.0 * factor) 1 md_disc
factor = if barrier_breached then min_ratio else 1.0
min_ratio = minimum (zipWith (/) (last underlyings) start_prices
barrier_breached
= any (\list -> or (zipWith (<=) list (map (0.7*) start_prices))
underlyings
&& or (zipWith (<) (last underlyings) start_prices
Dates involved (from comments in Lexifi code):
2013-01-27
(both payments, but using different discounts - 0 and 1 arg. to trajInner)
