I have asked about it here https://groups.google.com/a/android.com/g/camerax-developers/c/dArpjDf-w8k. Will be able to work on it as soon as CameraX officially supports it.

Could also maybe extend this issue to include VP8 and VP9, whilst they are less common formats they are royalty free and open formats and I feel like CameraX could include support for those later down the line.

I have just filed a feature request for CameraX. Hope they consider it soon!

As the successor of these formats, I believe that AV1 support should also be considered, but with lower priority as it is currently not widely supported

I second this.

@flawedworld this is an issue tracker, so entries should be titled as such. In this case, I suggest:

Video codec (format) cannot be configured

@Chealer We don't word feature requests that way.
