Mark all as read from search results?

Many of our old users are reading new posts from forum using this URL:
http://www.example.com/f/search.php?action=show_new

It seems that in the past there was an option to mark these as read. I know that similar view exists at index and mark as read option is there, but is not conveniently located.

Can something be improved? I do not have a ready suggestion for specific fix.
