Running both the HDMI and this script+application

So I tried to set up the dual monitor head described here: https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=93&t=15666 and then instead of launching xterm launching nmon-xu4 to no success - any thoughts on how I could do this without killing the HDMI output? I'd like to use this device as a computer as well - or media center.

Also for some reason the mouse runs really slow after I do the dual head configuration change?
