Usage from background worker

Would you say that this is recommended to use in background worker for email templates?
I see only ASP usages mentioned

Should be fine, it doesn't add any more dependencies than Razor already does. So as long as you're ok with using Razor (which depends on parts of ASP.NET Core) it shouldn't be an issue. I'll use this issue to track adding an example of this scenario to the sample app.
