Automating transcript from Google Hangout call #49

As we discussed in the meeting today, it would be nice to have a transcript using the Google API of the hangout call. Additional features could include:

  • automatic formatting
  • allowing user edits

List of things added/to add:

  • Video upload
  • Video -> audio conversion
  • Audio -> text conversion
  • Support multiple file types
  • Transcript to website viewer
  • Data streaming
  • Move to app engine (depends on file size quotas)

Quick Update: Cloud functions have a timeout time of 9 minutes which makes transcribing longer videos impossible. Going to try and migrate to app/compute engine.
