but generally in order for PNPM Workspaces to work right you need everything defined correctly.

I saw that it is pretty restrictive in that sense. I would make it an improvement of the current setup, and if time allows you can have a look since you have more experience with it 🥇

One would change nodeLinker to use pnpm instead of node-modules in yarnrc.yml.
