Repeated login/logouts cause issues

When you logout and log back in you don't always show up as the user you expect. The behavior seems spotty. Will take some investigation to get exact reproduction steps and narrow down the culprit. Could be some local storage issue, possible gatekeeper front end or backend caching something, or just my code not using it properly
