Editor: unable to link to the media file when inserting single images

When I insert an image into the editor, there is no way (that I can find) to have it linked to the media file by default. In the wp-admin editor, it's done by selecting "Media File" from the "Link to" drop-down menu. In Calypso, I can't find a way to do it.

The only way to do this is to select the inserted image and click the Insert Link icon to have the image linked to its media file. It's a two-step process that shouldn't be.

Steps to reproduce (no link):

• Create a new post.
• Upload or insert an image from the media library into the editor.
• Publish or preview the draft. The image is not linked.

You can click the Edit button (pencil icon) when inserting an image but that reveals Caption, Description, Alt Text, and URL. No option to have the image linked to itself.

Notes:

• If you insert a gallery, then it's possible to link to the media file

• However, if you add the gallery as 'Individual Images', the Link to option is no longer there. It could be a neat option to have it there.

Is it possible to make it easier to have the inserted images linked to themselves, or at least, have the option for the user to choose to link?
