If possible only upgrade to Java 24, instead 25, when the time comes. #1691

signal-cli uses the latest Java LTS version. Currently that's 21, the next one will probably be 25. |

I am a bit shocked that especially the LTS versions are not included by the Debian (stable/testing) package maintainers, but thanks for letting me know the reasoning behind going for 25, it's inarguably a more solid choice for 99% of the users. Will probably buy more single-board computers to run several distros. It's the easiest way for me. Cheers! |

Hello, I am a Debian peasant and we do not often get updates. Currently my rolling release in Debian Testing has only Java 24. Soon Debian 13 Trixie will freeze packages and release (probably mid 2025). It would be nice if you somehow could factor in the many Armbian and Raspbian users who default to Debian stable.
Even though an alternative exists, I recently re-tried Ubuntu, but they have a few unresolved issues (since 2018) with DNSSEC in the unbound resolver, that are only working in Debian.
I know this is just a humble request, no matter how you decide: Thanks for you continued hard work!
