# Notes to self written while attempting to dockerize the project
* Can we run the GUI from the container? Or will we have to resort to running
DynSLAM in a headless mode instead and just dump metrics and screenshots in
some directory?
## Steps
* Clone
* Install libpng++ (libpng++-dev). (TODO add)
* Mention min Eigen version ?
* Mention min g++ version? (4.8.4 is a bit too old)
* Trying v5 from here: https://gist.github.com/beci/2a2091f282042ed20cda
* PLEASE use v5 and NOT the antique v4, since it does tons of things
better (in addition to supporting newer stuff, more optimizations, more
static checks (see my SO question on subtle bug in libviso)), such as
having much nicer output by default.
* Still getting an error with v5 (but seems fixable), but let's be lazy and
try v6. Still getting errors in v6. Must be old eigen? I had 3.3, but the
current machine has 3.2 and I shouldn't change that because of weird
dependencies. Anyway, let's just try to fix that stupid initializer
problem.
* Hacked everything so it sees my in-tree Eigen 3.3 and NOT the system one
(why the fuck is it SO difficult???), and it seems to be doing better.
* My weird project structure may be to blame... I had to symlink
include/eigen3 to src/eigen3, so maybe that's the issue? Dunno.
* Also, I think it may be required to cmake Eigen in its own dir first?
* Got it to build with another (hacky) flag for nvcc, CUDA 8, gcc 4.8 and
Eigen 3.3 (using the in-root one, albeit with a huge hack).
* Install OpenCV and CUDA
* Install libbfd OR fix your CMakeLists to ensure it doesn't try to link it if
it's not there yo.
* TODO make CMake use the in-tree Eigen automatically, always
* Install an up-to-date CMake locally (see script; can automate with no sudo).
* Build Pangolin (can automate with no sudo)
* Build the main project (can automate with no sudo)
