Issue

I noticed that a lot of requests are sent to Anthropic that have a similar number of input tokens than my what my current Aider context is.

I would guess that it was at least $30 of those requests today.
I update to the newest Aider version so I can't provide the version I was using.

Btw they are not showing up in the analytics.log. However I checked the Anthropics log multiple times and the input token number changed with Aider context size. I do have cache enabled as well as the option to keep the cache warm for some time

Thanks for reporting this. Those are indeed cache warming pings. It looks like you've exposed a bug where using commands like /ask and /code can cause more than 1 cache warming thread to become active.

This is fixed in the main branch.

The change is available in the main branch. You can get it by installing the latest version from github:

aider --install-main-branch

# or...

python -m pip install --upgrade --upgrade-strategy only-if-needed git+https://github.com/Aider-AI/aider.git

If you have a chance to try it, let me know if it works better for you.
