OK. I’m just not good at reading docs. |

Hi. First of all, I want to say that by the looks of it, eleventy looks really impressive and powerful.
Unfortunately, I’m having difficulties taking in all this power because, from my perspective, the docs don’t explain it very well.
For instance, the docs talk about templating languages and the special syntax for inserting fields as well as the special syntax for the front matter. I am able to comprehend what it’s talking about, but I find it a bit jarring that there’s no introduction to it or explicit explanation of the syntax. It seems taken for granted.
While I do understand the basics of the templating syntax, I don’t understand all of it. Other pages seem to show that inside the templating syntax is a sort of expression language. Where can I find documentation on this expression language?
Another surprise was the sudden non-introduction of
.eleventy.js
. I assume it’s the main global configuration file, but I’m not sure.I am also confused about the main mode of operation of eleventy. It seems from the “Get Started” section that it just takes templates that may refer to other templates and then renders them in another directory. But the advanced features don’t seem to work this way? I’m not sure.
I’m both asking for clarification on these questions and also want to check if I’m misreading the documentation, as it seems very unintuitively laid out.
